We are passionate about the quality of work we do, which is why we’re proud to have no subcontracting on your pool or spa construction. When you choose Aqua Blue Pools to design and construct your dream pool, you can trust that you’re choosing a team with the experience, passion, and commitment to quality to create a pool that will last through years of family memories and summer fun. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when designing your backyard oasis:

Create a wish list and look book. You probably have an idea in your head about how you would like your pool to look, but it helps to brush up on some of the latest technologies and trends to gather some ideas and to determine your must-have features. Tear out, print, and collect pictures from your favorite magazines and websites to show us some of your inspiration. Seeing what designs you’re interested in and why will help us get a better idea of what you’re looking for.

Decide your shape. The general shape of your pool is critical to the design. Rectangular shapes are a classic look that’s also great for swimming laps or games. The kidney shape and free-form designs can blend with your landscaping for a more natural look.

Think about how you’ll use your pool. Are you building a pool for the kids? Is it an investment or relaxing retreat? Would you like to pick up swimming as a work out? Are you wanting to make a dramatic architectural statement? No matter your reason for wanting to build, knowing the answer to some of these questions is critical to designing a pool that will meet your needs.

Establish a budget and consider long-term costs. You probably have an idea of what you would like to spend on your pool, but it’s important to discuss your must-have features and design needs with your builder to establish a realistic budget. The cost of maintaining your pool is also important to keep in mind. When building, choose some energy-efficient features to cut back on these monthly maintenance costs.

Be energy efficient. There’s so many features and products to help save on energy costs for your pool. Timers, pumps, and enclosures can each make a difference in keeping energy costs low. Talk to your builder about the best eco-friendly and energy saving features available for your design.

Don’t forget the fun features. While it’s important to stick to your budget, don’t skip out on the features that you really want. A spa, elegant waterfall, or slide can really make an impact on the look and function of your pool. It’s usually more expensive to add these features after the initial install, so if it’s your dream, talk to your builder about how to make the fun features happen.

Remember the landscaping. Your pool will probably look pretty bare without some landscaping to compliment it. When thinking about what to plant around your pool, try to choose plants and flowers that aren’t messy and won’t end up in your pool filter. The landscaping you choose can make a big difference in creating the backyard ambiance you’re looking for.

Keep safety in mind. Beyond any building or fencing codes, consider what safety measures your pool will need. If you have kids, you’ll definitely want to consider childproof gates or an alarm to keep everyone safe.
